1st timer & proud finisher: 10K SAFRA run 24 August 2008. i did it!!!!!!

this was my run, my first 10K competitive run.

at 41 i didn't think i'd really go for it, but i did. how did it feel? it was different. a lot lot different. for months now, i'd been training and running by myself (well occasionally with hubby j, or of late, my good friend geneblue, yet more often than not, just me). and suddenly when you find yourself within in a pool of runners—of different sizes, age and race; it's so exhilarating, amazing and chaotic!

i ran with gene (my good friend and sis milet was supposed to join us, but she injured herself last week..too bad. i missed u sis!). well, that was the plan, until we lost each other by more or less the 4k mark. despite that, i felt good and did the run alone—with my ipod and my polar to tell me if i am on track.

would i do it all over again? definitely. crossing that finish line, without minding my time, seeing my son pao with his tita milet waiting (too bad hubby jay flew to sydney this morning) , is all worth it. and the feeling got greater when i slid my first runner's race medal around my neck.

my goal the next run: to run a better time :-) meanwhile... my training continues..
