home for lolo jorge

it was a 330am call from manila, from vic (jay's brother in law) last 13th january, that i kinda knew something was really wrong. besides, calls at this unGodly hour is never good, right?

it was affirmed by jay's body language; a slumped back, hand on his forehead, face down and a deep "oh no!" that it was definitely very bad news.......... lolo jorge has passed on.

the little that i know of lolo jorge has been all good. i see him on occasion when jay and i were still dating, and every time when see one another, we speak "ilongo." a nice way to start the conversation. he is a mild and gentle man, who loves food. meat in fact! in a way reminds me of daddy, since they both love steak.

Lola Zeny and Lolo George, during our wedding December 2005
he is a man who loves his kids, and is very proud of them-- all of them! i also admire the way he can openly and vocally say "i love you son" to jay whenever they speak on the phone.

of late, before his death, i know jay has been missing his dad. in our talks you can always sense it. so, i was so sad that jay had to go home and see his dad in that state, lifeless. it was also difficult for me, since i really don't know how to deal with death. death for me is never easy. the only consolation i know of death is that: someone you love is in a better place :-(

good bye lolo jorge. you will be missed. you did a good job in raising up jay and i respect you for that. may you rest in peace lolo jorge

Hi, Mi. I only rediscovered your blog recently. (For the longest time, I couldn't access it.) This post brought tears. It was spot on. He was one of the kindest, gentlest, funniest (!) soul I know, and yes, to this day, we miss him terribly.

*Hugs to you, my cousin and Tata Men.*

See you in December!
