the Cs in my life ....

.....is not the harsh C for Cancer (thank God), but the stubborn C for Cysts and C for the multiple Cesareans i have had.

as i checked in Mount Elizabeth last 23rd of feb, for my keyhole surgery to remove my ovarian cyst(s) , i had to undergo the usual interrogation by nurses and doctors. since i am very used to this routine, i obediently replied to all their questions— like a robot, in fact. but there was one particular question from my anesthesiologist, dr. yap (a very charming lady-- i loved her) that i had to stop and think.. then count. question was: how many surgeries have you had in your life? oh gosh. i immediately held up my fingers and had to back track my mind and it dated me as far back as 1982 - 1983! come to think about it, if this were job interview of some sorts, i think i would will make a very good canditate and have passed with flying colors! and my credentials are as follows:-)

1982 or 1983: first surgery for cysts in right breast. dr. manahan extracted two big ones.
1986 or 1987: tonsils taken out by dr. bautista. this was super painful!
1990 : cesarean section for the birth of daniella, done by dr. lazaro
1994 : cesarean section for the birth of paolo also by dr. lazaro
2002 : right thyroid extraction -hmm forgot my doctor here.....
2007 : cesarean section for the birth of carmen by dr ann tan
2009 : keyhole surgery for cysts in ovaries by dr. ann tan.
attached here is an image from that latest procedure.

i rest my case.

oohh here is an image from that recent procedure. i hope that's the last and final thing they extract from my poor and scarred body .......:-) it's tiring ha..... and disrupts routine so bad, it's annoying...

ps. to my fellow cyst mates: itsy and maya... you know what i mean, and i hope you are well now:-)

Mia, wow dami na your operations!

For me, it looks like (a) popcorn popped by Diane (sunog!) and (b) foie gras...

I am well. A year later, I feel that removing it (physically and emotionally) has made me a happier, more creative person. It taught me that our body is so intelligent to tell us when something in our life needs paying attention to -- in my case, it was my creative frustration.

Amusing post! Maya
